Using Octopus/Tentacle over the internet

Hi,

I’ve got an Octopus server on a machine on our internal network and a tentacle that sits on the same machine that works fine, but when I install a tentacle on one of our external servers (with apparent relevant rules in the firewall) the tentacle cannot connect.

Before I go and chastise our IT guys, I just wanted to check that it should work over ip addresses?

Hi Paul,

It definitely should. An easy way to test is to remote desktop to the Octopus box, and to try and browse to http://your-tentacle-ip:10933 - you should get a page for the web service.

Brill, we eventually got it - combination of server 2003 hidden firewall settings and proxy annoyances solved it!
