Using Octopus community steps library behind firewall

Hello support team,

we have a Octopus Server running in our DMZ in a data center.

However, there are firewalls installed and the community steps templates cannot be loaded. Which domains and ports do we need to open up? library.octopus.com with TCP and port 443 or does Octopus communicate over a different port with the library server?

Best regards,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your query.

I can confirm that Octopus Server synchronises with the step template library by sending an API call to https://library.octopus.com/api/step-templates. As long as your firewall allows a HTTPS connection to that endpoint it should work fine.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Charles

Hi @charles.hague,

thank you for the information. Our firewall blocks outgoing connections in this area as well, so the administrator needs to add a rule to allow the traffic to library.octopus.com/api/step-templates:443.

Thank you for the quick answer, I will tell you if it works.

Best regards,
Tim

Hi @charles.hague,

now I can confirm that it works. (Just had to trigger the synchronization manually once).
