Test restore process

Good day!

We want to test restore process of our octopus server, but fell in misunderstanding with license. Could you please tell, if it possible to restore our octopus instance to the test VM (with our master key), and then remove this VM.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. There’s nothing in the license agreement that would prevent you from doing this. Your Octopus license allows you to have up to 3 simultaneous Octopus server instances running. So you could have:

  • 1 instance running in prod.
  • 1 instance for stage to generate test data.
  • 1 instance where you’ll be restoring the test data from the stage instance.
