We run “java -version” command via SSH to a Ubuntu server and the Task Log mark it’s output as ERROR. Why?

Thanks for getting in touch! In order to understand what has gone wrong I will need to see a copy of the raw deployment log where you have seen this error. The following documentation page has instructions on retrieving these logs.
Can you please attach the entire log file in your response?

I’m sorry for the delay in getting back to you here.
Octopus uses the output from scripts to try and determine how execution of the script went. Sometimes this can cause problems with Octopus thinking a regular output is an error. It looks like that is what is happening here.
We have a section in our custom scripts documentation which details how you can handle error’s in your scripts.
