Is it possible to use SSH targets on Windows Servers and use them in place of the normal Windows listening/polling tentacles?
Has anyone tried it and are there any gotchas to be aware along the way, for example specifics around the Windows SSH client install?
Is this a supported way of using Octopus for production deployments?
And finally you may be wondering why someone would ever go down that route – simply because this is the path of least resistance to get Octopus approved for deployments…
I’m afraid that the SSH option is only available for Linux targets at this time, Windows machines will need to use the Tentacle agent to be a deployment target.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I was afraid your answer would come up just like that, however I am interested in the low level details. What will be the blocker if I try to create SSH Target on Windows Server with SSH Client…
I guess I have to try it
