If we update our server version, does every tentacle need to be updated to match the version? If so, are there any plans to have an easy way to do that?

They don’t have to run the same version, but in general it’s a good idea.
After you install the latest Octopus and do a health check from the Environments page, an upgrade button will appear - click it an Octopus will automatically go and update all tentacles:

That’s fantastic. We have about 50+ servers that will have tentacles on them, so an easy upgrade path is very important. Thanks, as always, for a terrific product.
I should add that the backwards compatibility varies from release to release - sometimes a feature in Octopus might depend on changes in Tentacle. This hasn’t happened for some time now, but there’s no guarantee.
