We’re tryingt to encourage a more devOps style enviroment here. I’d like developers to be able to request a release.
I’d like the senior guys/release manager to still have to approve it but this would allow initiation to come from the front lines.

One option would be to make the first step of a production deployment a “manual step” that pauses the deployment. Then give everyone in your team access to deploy the project. The deployment will start, and then pause for a release manager to approve it.
The only thing missing from the workflow is that the release managers won’t get notified that a release is pending.
