Octopus Software Rollback (not deployment!)

Hello Support

I have a question about upgrading Software versions

i.e 3.3.14 to 3.3.24

Do you have any documentation on rolling back if the upgrade fails ?

Or is it as simple as

Restore Database from backup
Have Master Key at hand
Install older version over the top of failed version ?
Test site is up and running
Test a Deployment
Test pushing a package
Remove from Maintenance

Hi James,

Thanks for getting in touch! Unfortunately rolling back Octopus Server itself is not such an easy case as database upgrade scripts will be run so rolling back without considering the database would cause data corruption issues.

In case of a rollback you would need to add a step to backup your database before upgrade and then revert to that backup when the old MSI is run. Apart from that your process sounds perfect.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
