Missing permission: AdministerSystem for viewing Packages?

I have a team to which I have given the following roles:

  • Package Publisher
  • Project Contributor
  • Project Developer
  • Project lead

Users in this team can upload packages but when the click on the Library menu the following error is displayed:

Please contact your Octopus administrator. Missing permission: AdministerSystem (xxxxxx requesting https://octopus.ourdnsname.com/api/repository/configuration)

I have Another Octopus server with the same settings and there it works fine. I’m using 2.6.0.778.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Joakim

Hi Joakim,

Thanks for getting in touch! Is it possible that the teams mentioned on the first installation have had the permissions changed? Are both servers running the same version?

There is a discussion open due to the permissions of the package page (see below) but it doesn’t explain how you have two different behaviors in two different versions

I have opened a ticket to see about the permissions needed to view that page which you can track here: https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/Issues/issues/1433

Thanks!
Vanessa

Hi,
I’m unable to explain why there is a difference between environments. The one thing I notice is that the new version has the new Lifecycle items on the menu. Could that be the cause?

Cheers/Joakim

Hi Joakim,

It looks like there is an issue with 2.6 where Lifecycles were added to the library menu and thus blocked off packages. We have an open GitHub issue.
I would have to assume you are on a different version in the one that works.
You can track it here: https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/Issues/issues/1433

Thnx Vanessa, I’m following the ticket in GitHub. Looking forward to a fix
