We are looking to give developers access to ‘export’ there projects from our ‘production’ octopus server where they have limited rights and import it in to our ‘dev’ octopus server where they are admins so they can go off and experiment with deployment changes with out the admin group having to be involved. The Migration API seems like a good option for us but it puts the whole server in to Maintenance mode for many minutes which is disruptive. For a real ‘prod’ migration this makes sense but in our case a ‘fuzzy’ not locked copy would work just as well. If someone changes something half why thought and hoses the export, o well, try again.
