How to specify the branch/tag for a GitHub package?

When specifying a GitHub package in a process step, the process id (repo name) is accepted but not a branch or tag name. How can I specify the github branch name?

Answer: The git tag can be specified at release time. but there is intentionally no way to specify a branch since a branch is not a unique identifier.
