The current categories (Web, Application, Database) don’t cover all of the tiers of my system. Is this just for informational purposes or does this affect how things are deployed? Can I create new categories?
Thanks for asking. That field has absolutely no bearing on how Octopus operates. It used to affect a diagram that the old Environments page showed, but that has disappeared in the latest version in favour of the new page layout. In a future release I will probably drop the ‘Category’ attribute entirely - the description field is a much better place to put that kind of information.
