Two items missing from the installation guide.

  1. If a remote SQL Server instance is used, it looks like the Windows Service AND the portal application pool (in IIS) need to be configured to a user that has access to the database (not just the service).
  2. The port for the portal site needs to be opened in the Windows firewall, if the portal is to be accessible from remote machines.
