Just adding a suggestion to this discussion.
Banged my head against the wall, trying to understand why variables wouldnt resolve in customer preproduction environment using offline target deployment, while the whole process was running smoothly in internal CI and devtest environment (were tentacles were installed).
Ok, its a decision not to support this, but maybe a there could be some kind of validation warning in the web-interface that step variable references exists in a process step that will target offline deployment targets in one or more environments? Alternatively, a warning or informative error message when running the script on the offline target?
