Variables not imported into 2.0 from 1.6 octopus deploy

I am trying to import my octopus 1.6 backup into octopus 2.0 version. Everything seems imported fine apart from variables. On variables page it says “Value cannot be null. Parameter name:key.” Any idea what I am missing here.
