Upgrading Tentacles from Octopus server - does MSCVR90.DLL get accesed?

We are troubleshooting an unrelated environmental error, and this question was asked, as we recently upgraded to Octopus 2.6.2.845, and the subsequent Tentacle upgrade activity coincides with start of the issue.

The question for you: Would the Octopus Tentacle update have installed, modified or registered MSCVR90.DLL on the machines?
This .DLL file apparently comes from the Visual C++ Redistributable package.

Thanks for your time,
Karl

Correction, the name of the file is MSVCR90.DLL - sorry for the confusion!

Hi Karl,

I have checked the Tentacle installer, and I can confirm that it would not have installed, modified or registered the mentioned DLL.

Thank you and kind regards,
Henrik

Thanks for the quick reply Henrik!

One more question Henrik – does the Tentacle application use MSVCR90.DLL at all? (This DLL is related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.)
In other words, do I need to have MS Visual C++ in order to install and run Tentacle?

Hi Karl,

The Tentacle does not directly use MSVCR90.dll, but it is part of the .NET framework which is required to run the Tentacle.

Thank you and warm regards,

Henrik
