Upgrade from 3.13.9

Hi all is there a reasonable process of upgrading from 3.13.9 to one of the 2018 or 2019 versions?
Ultimately I want to upgrade to the latest but i’m a bit concerned about missing a breaking functionality. There have been so many (amazing) releases since.

Any advice how to go about it in most efficient way?

Cheers!

Hi @Karl_Stankiewicz!

In general, you should be fine to upgrade from version 3.13.9 to any recent versions! We have a detailed guide on the upgrade process here: https://octopus.com/docs/administration/upgrading/guide additionally, we have a video on this topic on our Ask Octopus web series here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuIw8RkYo9c

Owing to the larger jump in versions, we do suggest that you pay close attention to the changelogs between your existing install version, and your intended version for any breaking changes that may impact your particular install. You can find the changelog here: https://octopus.com/downloads/compare?from=3.13.9&to=2019.9.10

We do urge proper preparation before an upgrade, including backups of your Master key, SQL database, and filesystem data before beginning, and even a Proof-of-concept upgrade in a scratch environment to ensure you’re not caught off-guard by any changes in the product.
