Updated step template - not prompt to save

I’ve just updated a step template, went to the project that uses it and upgrade the process that uses the step and build a new release. Only it didn’t work. I didn’t hit the save button when I updated the step in the process (hope that makes sense). Is it possible to get a reminder prompt - ie you’ve changed this process (upgrading the step template to the newest version), you sure you don’t want to save the changes.

PS: I also hope you create a central meta library for all those lovely community scripts - kinda like the WordPress plugin repo

Cheers,

Hi Matt,

Thanks for getting in touch! What version are you currently running? We added it to 3.0 that if you edit anything in a step template it now warns you when you are leaving those pages.

Hope that helps!
Vanessa

3.1.1.

Are you referring to - https://github.com/OctopusDeploy/Issues/issues/932?

This is on the actual updating the step in the project - http://{octopus-server}/app#/projects/{project}/process/step/{id}

So when I change the step template - ie change the code, it prompts for saving. However when you go to the project to update the step to use the new (saved) code it doesn’t prompt to save if you haven’t saved - which is a pain as the save button is hidden at the bottom :frowning:

Actually you can see it on your demo site - https://demo.octopusdeploy.com/app#/projects/octofx-rate-service/process/step/96361a88-0280-4280-b3ae-e25c23c6ff94

If you click the “Update” in the yellow - under the “This step needs to be updated. The step template has changed since this step was configured. Press the button below to merge in the latest changes.”

It won’t prompt you to save when you try to leave the page

Hi Matt,

Yeah I get what you mean now. I’ve put in an enhancement issue to at least prompt if you move from the page, but it probably won’t be a high priority.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Vanessa
