In the tentacle manager UI all I get is the Getting started Wizard Button, there seems to be no way to see the existing configuration of any instance of a tentacle or the ability to modify an existing instance of a tentacle. And lastly I cannot remove an instance of a tentacle from the UI at all.
I had to remove the instance using the command line and had to manually remove the service from the server using sc delete is this really not available via the UI???
Thanks for getting in touch! I’m sorry to hear you’re hitting this unexpected issue. Which version of Tentacle are you currently running? We’ve seen something similar occur on an older Tentacle version, so installing a newer version may just do the trick.
Another thing that could possibly cause this is if you have a different version of manager and the exe. Can you confirm if this is the case?
I look forward to hearing back and getting to the bottom of this one!
Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.
So we have Octopus.Manager.Tentacle.exe version 3.23.10
And Tentacle.exe version 3.23.10
How can I install a newer version of the tentacle and does that have to manage the server instance ?
Cheers,
Andy
Thanks for following up and clarifying those details. You can upgrade Tentacle straight from the web portal under Infrastructure > Deployment Targets > [Tentacle] and within the Connectivity tab.
Hi
I installed the latest version which was 4.0.0 this fixed the problem
I had to do this manually on each tentacle as the server itself does not have direct access to the web.
Thanks for following up and letting me know the outcome. Great to hear the Tentacle upgrade fixed the problem! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions moving forward.
