Run Octopus Server on Docker (AWS ECS)

Hi,

Im looking to run Octopus Server in Windows Docker (AWS ECS to be specific) and have a few questions

  • Is there any notable drawbacks doing this? Any feature not supported, or performance hits?
  • Anyone done this and want tell about their experience?
  • Is there support to run dedicated Workers in Docker?

Any feedback appreciated!

Hi Johan,

We don’t have first-hand experience of anyone running Octopus in ECS. Technically we can’t see any reason it shouldn’t work. I would suggest perhaps raising it in our community Slack, as it gets a lot more community participation than this forum. And we are always more than happy to help out if you hit any snags along the way.

We would recommend managing the Octopus database outside of ECS.

Running workers in docker will not currently work. This is something we will enable in the near future.
