Octopus tentacle service stopping

Once or twice a month the Octopus Tentacle service spontaneously stops on one or more of our target machines.

I’d really like help diagnosing and preventing this condition.

Sorry to hear that you’re having issues with this - while I can’t see anything obvious in the logs we have had reports of this happening when a DSC software detects an upgraded version of the tentacle software and tries to revert it back to its known-good state. If you are running SCCM or another DSC software on your servers, it might be this.

If not, and it just seems like it’s a random occurrence, you can use a service watchdog to ensure that the tentacle process stays up on the machine. You can find information on how to enable it here: https://octopus.com/docs/administration/managing-infrastructure/service-watchdog.
