Octopus audit - Sensitive variable change

Hi Guys,

I wonder if you could help me please. We have had an issue where someone needed to change a sensitive variable to a new connection string(sensitive variable). The deployment worked but failed on the deployment target due to an incorrect password in the connection string(unrelated to Octopus).

I am looking into the audit to see what the variables value was at deployment time and what the variable is now.

I understand that the sensitive variables are encrypted so its not as straight forward as usual.

Is there a way to see what the variable was at deploy time in plain text. I know how to see what the sensitive variable is now but the audit isn’t very useful besides telling me that it was changed.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. I’m afraid there’s no way to retrieve the value of a sensitive variable from an audit log like that.

Sorry for the bad news. Let me know if there’s anything else we can help with.

Best regards,
Dalmiro
