Looking at the log here, looks like this is stemming from the following error:
The tenant ‘CI-2410’ does not exist or you do not have permissions to view it.
If this isn’t a typo, it’s possible that the user associated with the API key does not have access to interact with this tenant.

this happened suddenly last evening. before this everything was working just fine. the tenant ci-2140 exists in octopus

Thanks for letting me take a look - at cursory inspection of your audit log, the CI-2410 tenant was created at 15:56 UTC, where your build happened at 15:36 UTC - is it possible your provisioning scripts that spin up the tenant/infrastructure failed to run on this build?
Yes thats what happened but dont know why it would fail to do so. Creation of tenant is the last step from azure devops after it creates the release in octopus. Could it have happened as there was an upgrade pending on the workers ? we have a azure vm we use and i upgraded the tentacle. I cannot relate that it started to work after i upgraded the tentacle though.
Doesn’t seem like that would be the cause - the first place I would suggest looking is in the build log on the previous steps, if it had any output to indicate a failure.
