Missing warning about variables changes

Hi Team,

One of our developers noticed today that the warning message that used to show up when you try to run a release after a variable is updated is no longer showing up in the UI.

We believe this was introduced in 2021.3.10526 which we upgraded to 5 days ago (because of this other issue)

Can you guys double check this for us? Our devs relied on that warning quite a bit for the Prod releases.

Cheers,
Dalmiro

Hello @dalmiro.granas1,

Thanks for reaching about this. We understand how this might be a concern for you.

This is an intentional change done by the team, you can read about the change more in-depth on this GitHub conversation here: Project variables can be overridden and deployed without warning that variables have been changed · Issue #6743 · OctopusDeploy/Issues · GitHub.

This change was put in place to avoid confusion with Config As Code coming along. However, the variable changes can still be viewed in the snapshot in the release.

If you feel like this is a detrimental change for yourselves we can pass this feedback along to our engineers.

If you have any other questions, or concerns, please reach out again.

Kind Regards,
Sean

Thanks for the quick reply @sean.stanway . We added our feedback to the Github issue.

Cheers,
Dalmiro
