The functionality that we’re looking for is that we would like to be able to block someone from using the update variables function on a release once it gets to “production”. It doesn’t look like there is a way to do this currently. If there is please point me in the right direction. Otherwise I’ll add something to uservoice.

Thanks for reaching out. The functionality of that button is tied to the user role ReleaseEdit. If you can create a team that has all the user roles needed, but you dont assign him the user role ReleaseEdit, you should be able to get what you want. The team must of course be only scoped to “Production”.
