Link to the Release Notes for Octopus Deploy?

I’ve been hunting for 15 minutes to find a simple URL to the OD release notes. Can’t find it. What I did find is:

… which unfortunately requires a “from” and “to” release number, meaning that it’s not a generic link to the release notes.

Would someone please provide a simple link to the release notes such as http://help.octopusdeploy.com/releasenotes ?

It would also be really nice to have this as an option on the upper-right menu in the Octopus web client.

Hi Michael,

There is no generic release notes URL.

You can use the URL in the form:
https://octopus.com/downloads/compare?from=3.0.24&to=3.1.4
to get the difference between two versions, or
https://octopus.com/downloads/compare?to=3.1.4
to get the release notes just for that version.

Our reasoning was that anytime you are interested in release notes, it is in the context of seeing what has changed in a particular version, or what is the difference between two versions (i.e. your currently installed version and the latest).

If you really want to see all changes, you could do:
https://octopus.com/downloads/compare?from=0.9.511.2528&to=3.1.4
changing 3.1.4 to whatever the latest is.

I hope this helps,
Michael R

Thanks for your note.

I appreciate your comments but I don’t agree with your assessment that “anytime you are interested in release notes, it is in the context of seeing what has changed in a particular version”.

On the contrary, the need for most people would be to find out “what’s new” with the latest version.

Simply providing a “What’s new?” option on the main menu in the upper right of the web interface would be really nice. That link should lead to a page with all the release notes listed, most recent first. Readers can scroll down as far as needed.

This is the way most products work and it respects people’s time and needs.

Please consider adding this simple and essential capability.

You can find what’s new for the latest release, by browsing https://octopus.com/downloads and following the “View release notes for…” link at the bottom of the page.

Perhaps this isn’t as obvious as it should be.

We appreciate the feedback, and will certainly consider it.
