Health Check intervals

hi,

i saw in a previous discussion
http://help.octopusdeploy.com/discussions/questions/3730-configure-tentacle-health-check-interval
that health checks will become configurable. can we now do this? if so please let me know or point me to the documentation.

Thanks
Anton

Hi Anton,

Thanks for reaching out. This is not in our current plans, but there’s a uservoice suggestion that could use some of your votes: http://octopusdeploy.uservoice.com/forums/170787-general/suggestion

If you’d like to trigger health checks at will, you could use the API or the following cmdlet of the Octoposh module: https://github.com/Dalmirog/OctoPosh/wiki/Start-OctopusHealthCheck

Dalmiro

Hi Dalmiro,
I’ve run into an issue with 3.3.1 where the server is running hourly health checks and I’d like to stop the task. The task output doesn’t tell me how the task was started or who started it. I’m not sure if a built-in task is doing this or if it’s hidden somewhere in an Octopus config file. Any idea where I can look to help me stop this task?

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I’ve replied to your email, but I’ll add the response here as well so other users cna see it

Automatic health checks cannot be stopped at the moment, but we are thinking on doing something about this in 3.4 when introducing multi-tenancy and elastic-environments. Still can't give you full details of this though.

Dalmiro

Hi,
I’m still looking for a way to disable health checks. We’ve run into issues where the health checks get hung and never stop thus bogging down the server and stopping deployments and HA fail-over. I’ve sent an email to Octopus support today describing the issue and looking for solution.

We have 1300+ machines and 100’s of global projects, the Octopus server has to stay online and not get bogged down with hourly health checks.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Health check intervals will be configurable in 3.4: http://docs.octopusdeploy.com/display/OD/Machine+Policies

There’s already a beta out there for you to try on a non-prod instance: https://octopus.com/blog/octopus-deploy-3.4-eap-beta2

Thanks,
Dalmiro

Dalmiro,
Thanks for responding. I searched through the change logs while comparing 3.4 with 3.3.1 and didn’t see anything about it so I send the email and post. I’ll check it out.

Cheers,
