Is there any documentation on how to setup the FTP Step. I have not been able to successfully deploy using the “Upload files by FTP” step. I have verified i have WinSCP installed and can connect to my Azure WebApp via FTP. If you can help point me in the right direction for documentation or help get this setup and working that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. We do not have a documentation for that particular step. Are you using Octopus 3.0? If that is the case, you might be best using 3.0’s built in Azure support.

If you are using Octopus 2.X, please send us a log so we can check where your deployment failed.

I am using Octopus 3.0, the first link is broken for me. It prompts me to login, but will not accept my information. I can click on the second link no problem.

Hi Sean,

Sorry about that. We “locked” that document for a couple of days, as we’ll be releasing our 3.1 pre-release really really soon. As you might know, in 3.1 we’ll be changing our azure app deployment approach as we kinda got it wrong in 3.0: http://octopusdeploy.com/blog/azure-changes

I definitely recommend you to wait a couple more days(not weeks) until we put our first 3.1 pre-release out there if you need to deploy to azure. Its gonna be much easier and smooth than 3.0.

If you are running a tight schedule and you need to get this working in 3.0 now, we can schedule a call and I can walk you through this process. You can select a time for a call on this link https://calendly.com/dalmirogranias

Best regards,

Hi Sean,

Since my last post on this thread we released a 3.1 pre-release which contains our new Azure deployment approach: https://octopusdeploy.com/downloads/3.1.0

We’ll be releasing the first stable release of 3.1 sometime this week, so it might be a good idea to install the pre-release on a separate server and give it a try. I think this will be a better use of your time rather than our scheduled call for 9/17 where we were going to help you setup the process in 3.0 (which is going to be deprecated eventually).

Let me know your thoughts
