We had a request come in from one of our business users that it would be nice to exclude all children steps for a parent. The UI segregation works fine however for steps with several children it can lead to missed options not being checked. Is this something that may prove useful to more than just us? Regards.
Thanks for getting in touch! Unfortunately it’s not possible to disable all child steps for a parent - each has to be selected individually. This may be a great idea to suggest on our UserVoice site in order to gauge community support! This is the main avenue we consult when considering features/enhancements like this for future releases.
If you’re consistently skipping certain parent/child steps, we’ve added the ability to disable steps in Octopus 3.5.5, and you can select the
Disable all option on a parent step (as shown in the screenshot below). However, the downside would be if you want to disable or enable the steps, you need to create a new release to take the change into effect. Would this help at all?
Let me know if this helps or if you have any furtther questions going forward.
