Is it possible to have one email notification sent for an environment deployment? Right now, we are getting emails for each product being deployed.
Thanks for getting in touch! To ensure I understand your question, can you expand on what you’re after? Are you wanting a summary for an entire environment, or emails when deploying to only one environment?
There may be a couple of options depending on your requirements. The subscription feature (introduced in Octopus 3.5) allows you to subscribe to certain events in Octopus. When they occur, an email or webhook notification will be sent. Email notifications are configured to send periodically and includes a digest of events that occurred in the specified timeframe within the email. Check out our docs and blog post which outlines the subscriptions feature in more detail.

Right now, each time there is a deployment we are getting an email for each specific item. Is there a way to set up an email to be sent at the start of the deployment and just at the end of the deployment?

- How do you currently have your email configured? Are you using an email step in each project?
- By “item”, do you mean each project is sending an email?
- Can you expand on what you mean by the start and end of the deployment? As in you promote your project through each environment in its lifecycle (i.e.
Production), or when an individual deployment task starts and finishes?
An email step can be scoped to specific environments, so it will only be run when deploying to those environments.
With subscriptions, you can subscribe to deployment-specific events (as shown in the attached screenshot) which will send a notification when it occurs in Octopus.
