Don't send Subscriptions email, if problem is already resolved

We’re using Octopus Subscriptions to send email do developers when deployment guided failure or machine problems occured. Email Frequency is set to f.ex. 1 hour, but the problem is that they’re sent even if the problems are resolved before that time.

Hi Rafal,

Thanks for getting in touch!

That is correct, the subscription is only collecting a list of events that match the filters provided and then reporting them back. There isn’t any logic in there to determine what is still valid.

If you’re wanting more up to date information, then creating a webhook linked to something like Slack or Teams could provide notifications on these events as they happen. Using that and amending the filter to include when guided failures are resolved and machines become healthy would allow people to see if the event has been resolved.

This logic doesn’t seem complicated and in my opinion this option should be included in the Subscriptions itself as simple checkbox.

Hi Rafal,

It is something that we’d like to add, but it would be a significant change to how the Subscription feature currently works, so, it isn’t something that we can quickly add to a patch.

I’ve already raised this suggestion with our products team for review, if they decide that it is a feature that is worth pursuing then it would likely be several months or more before it would be added, as the work for the upcoming cycles has already been assigned.

Paul

Ok thank you.
