Deploy Kubernetes Service - Readiness/Liveness Command

Hi guys,

In your Liveness/Readiness probes for deploying a Kubernetes container, the Command option tooltip simply states:

“These commands are run in the container, and if the return value is zero, the container is considered to be healthy.”

We’ve found that the commands need to be newline separated, to match the equivalent Kubernetes yaml. So, instead of:

cat /tmp/healthy.txt

You need to enter:
cat
/tmp/healthy.txt

As the command.

This is a pretty big one, and we only discovered the reason by pure luck. It might be worthwhile adding that to the tooltip for other people who get stuck.

Hi @stevenbales,

Thanks for getting in touch! You’re certainly right on that one. I’m sorry for the confusion and inconvenience this oversight has caused! Great catch, and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I’ve updated our doc page to specify this, and we’ll update the tool tip in the UI soon, so that should help prevent this in the future.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns moving forward!

Best regards,

Kenny
