Can not send email - SSL certificate issue

Hi Octopus team,

We are not able to send email from Octopus Server.
Octopus server use SSL/TLS configuration.
This issue is related with locally installed anti-virus software which replaces the certificate in order to scan web traffic for viruses.
How we can import anti-virus certificate into Octopus SMTP configuration?

Thomas Wojtowicz

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to Octopus!

Sorry, you’re having an issue with this,

Could you please upload the Raw Task log file for this.

I would like to see what the error code is to help me narrow down a more straightforward solution for you.

What version of Octopus are you using?

What browser are you using?

Also, what Anti-virus is it?

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Ziaul

Hi,

Hi Thomas,

There is an option you can try here:

OUTLOOK SMTP SETTINGS

  • Server Address: smtp -mail. outlook .com.
  • Username: Your Outlook Email Address (e.g. example@ outlook .com)
  • Password: Your Outlook Password.
  • Alternative Port Number: 25 (Without TLS/SSL)

This would be without TLS/SSL if that’s something you are okay with testing out to see if it would work for you?

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Ziaul

Hi,

SMTP is configured properly.

We can send email when
AVG Business is disabled (we disabled for few minutes to perform test). But need to be enabled from security reason.

This issue is related with locally installed anti-virus software (AVG Business) which replaces the certificate in order to scan web traffic for viruses.

We can export AVG Business certificate.

Main question is: how we can import AVG Business certificate for Octopus email ?

Regards,

Hi Thomas.

Unfortunately, This is not possible. The issues solely lie with the AVG as its replacing the certificate.

My recommendation would be:

To add the site into Exception list to avoid the SSL certificate from getting swapped by AVG’s SSL certificate.

Open AVG Antivirus/ Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> General -> Exceptions -> add the URL’s.

Sorry I could not bring you better news.

Kind regards,
Ziaul
