Calculation of needed deployment targets

Hi,

How can i calculate how many deployment targets I will need for Octopus Deploy Server?
Is a Docker container a deployment target, is the virtual server a deployment target or how does it work?

Thanks for getting in touch!

A deployment target is literally anything that you add as a target within the Octopus Server. Typically this would be something with a tentacle installed like a VM but can also be an Azure WebApp or Kubernetes Cluster.

If your deployment process is mostly scripts interacting with external resources then you may not actually need to create deployment targets.
