Bring back the default worker

Hi,

I have put an external worker inside the default worker pool, and so the default worker got disabled. How can I enable and bring back the default worker?

I have tried enabling Configuration > Features > Run steps on Octopus Server, but the default worker didn’t show up. Anything else I should do?

Thanks.

Hi @Hossein.Margani,

Thank you for contacting Octopus Support.

In this case, you will need to move the worker from the Default Worker Pool to a different pool. If the Default Worker Pool is “empty”, the worker will be the Octopus Server. See the example below:

Thanks. That does it.

Is there a page which shows recommended packages to be installed in a Worker before adding it to the Octopus?

Hi @Hossein.Margani,

Thank you for getting back to me.

To answer your question, we do not have a recommended list as it would depend on what types of deployments you are using the worker for. If you don’t have it already, chocolatey is quite convenient to quickly install what you need.

If we can assist with anything else, please let us know.

Donny
