All Builds in TFS Partially Succeed with Exit Code: -3

We had been having the issue where a Build would “Partially Succeed”, we would submit again, and then it would succeed. Now, we cannot get a build to go through and we keep getting NO Errors, but Exit Code: -3 which means nothing to us. How can we fix this issue or find out what the problem is. We are using TFS and Visual Studio 2013. I could really use some help here as this issue is blocking our project.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you send us a build log so we can see under which context was the error triggered?

Thanks,
Dalmiro

The attached may help, I found an option to download All Logs as Zip on TFS. Thanks for trying to help!

I’m not really sure how to do that, but I copied and pasted what shows up in TFS to the attached text file. If there is another way to get this, please let me know.

Deploy_Log.txt (25 KB)

Hi,

The logs inside of your first zip file dont show any errors during the build. Now the build log on Deploy_Log.txt does show the Exit code: -3, but somehow I feel you did not quite copy the log the right way.

The instructions to download the build log will depend on the TFS version you are running. Could you do a quick search on google of "Download build log TFS [your version]"?

On that last log I can see that you are running Octopus 2.6.1 and that a deployment was triggered during the build process. Could you please send us the raw log of the deployment that was triggered during that build?

Thanks for the response. I am away from the office now, but I will take care of this as soon as I’m back in front of my computer.

Hi,
The only guy in our office able to access Octopus Deploy in our office says that the builds are NOT creating raw log files. I received the email below from here this morning. Please let know what you think.

Subject: Octopus deploy timeout issue (SSQV5)

I have researched the deployment issue with octopus deploy and SSQv5.

I have tried some work arounds, but I think we are going to have to upgrade to the latest version of Octopus deploy.

Beryl - The only log we can send them (Octopus deploy) is the timeout message below, the is no raw deployment log, sorry for taking so long to get back to you but I have been trying different solution I found on google,

Octopus Deploy Command Line Tool, version 2.6.1.52
Handshaking with Octopus server: https://deploy.pecdata.net/api
Handshake successful. Octopus version: 2.6.5.1010; API version: 3.0.0
